LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
This week, Moxy & Main was lucky enough to get a special tasting at Creamistry in Irvine, California (one of many existing locations throughout Los Angeles and Orange County). Creamistry is not only a delicious dessert (or meal, we don’t judge) but a totally awesome experience! So much so that we took videos of our creations being made. Everyone loves a good bowl of ice cream but Creamistry takes it to a whole new level by using liquid nitrogen to prepare customized, handcrafted ice cream just for you. With over 40 flavors and 50 mix-ins/toppings to choose from, I was happy to have the top creamologist offer his suggestions (and plenty of samples). With the summer weather quickly sneaking in, there has never been a better time to treat yourself to a personal cup of deliciousness. Although it was hard to narrow down (much like my waist after this visit), here are some of my favorites…
If you think cookie butter is delicious, the cookie butter ice cream with marshmallow syrup will make you cry tears of joy. My terribly picky son who doesn’t even like ice cream (I know…is he really mine?) was obsessed.
We went organic with our strawberry creation, which was definitely the right decision. This was some of the best strawberry ice cream I have ever had and the organic version was light and fluffy with just the right balance of Nilla wafers mixed in.
My personal fav was the mint ice cream with Oreos mixed in topped with Nutella, whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles. Sounds intense but it all blended together in perfect harmony.
Although it sounds boring, the vanilla bean was anything but…perhaps because it was accompanied by a mouth watering fresh and fudgey brownie. Plus, Just the right hint of bean doesn’t hurt.
Biggest surprise “love” was the pineapple sorbet. We would never normally go for a sorbet over an ice cream so kudos for this suggestion! Creamier than a normal sorbet but still light enough to enjoy on a summer day (it was 80 degrees here all week, after all), the pineapple took our breath away.
Chocolate (rocky road) was a rich decadent chocolate that never became too indulgent for our tastebuds. Perhaps because they only use the freshest of ingredients to delight with each bite.
The cotton candy tasted as if they actually froze fluffy cotton candy. There were real sugar cotton candy crystals included in the ice cream, which left a burst of deliciousness in your mouth.
Do you have a special occasion coming up? If you want to show the world your “Moxy” at your next affair instead of the same tired department store look, Novecento is the place to shop! Their selection of dresses and evening wear is truly top notch. From gowns to flirty pieces, this orange county boutique store has you covered from head to toe…literally. They will help you with your undergarments, shoes and accessories as well as any alterations which need to take place. Their inventory is mostly European based designers but with clients like Jennifer Lopez, you are in good hands. And the mother-daughter team that own this local business are both the nicest people you will ever met. Melika and Priscilla will make you feel like a Queen and look like one to boot! Pick yourself up a cute sweater from their vast selection of everyday wear too! Tell them Moxy & Main shared this (somewhat) hidden gem with you.
